We are almost packed and ready to depart for the long awaited penguin muster in Lightning Ridge, NSW. We head off tomorrow after a sausage sizzle lunch for Sarah's birthday 🌭
Another early morning walk After visiting the markets we went to a walk in mine. Wearing our very stylish hard hats Different colours in the rocks Escape hatch Attended the Mel & Susie show again. We had dinner with a few 🐧 friends at an Italian restaurant then joined the others in the pavilion for some singing, dancing and chatting. There was a few missing from the photos After a late night dip in the thermal pool we sat around the campfire until 11ish.
Went for a short walk this morning before breakfast. Temp got down to 5.3°c Found some friends And another walk after breakfast. Stopped in Tenterfield for a coffee and to catch up with Linda (café owner & farmer) who we met when we were there for Blazeaid in April. It's so dry and they are now using a desalination plant for water. Standing stones in Glen Innes was our lunch stop. We're staying at the Glen Innes showgrounds under a shelter usually used during snow season. Today we traveled 113kms We have traveled 686kms so far.
Today we leave the ridge and are heading to a freedom camp at the Nindigully Pub. We couldn't leave without a final hot dip. Morning tea stop was in Hebel, on the right side of the border 😆 The river didn't look very appealing Lunch was at Thallon by the silos Camped up by the Moonie river at the Nindigully Pub. The pelicans weren't bothered by all the weeds in the water. Art works at the pub. Friendly old fella I found on the toilet The boys made a ripper of a fire So we had ice creams And toasted marshmallows Lots of campers here but still plenty of room. Today we traveled 233kms and the weather was absolutely perfect. Total of 1399kms hitched.
